Each of my programs is personalized to fit your specific training desires and lifestyle. Bark 4 Joy offers in-home sessions, sit & train options, daytime training, & virtual training. I will work with you to determine the best program and length to accomplish the training goals we determine.
Choosing a new dog can be exciting but also nerve racking. How do you know which dog is best for your young kids? What breed requires little grooming? You love to hike and want to make sure your dog can walk several miles at a time. Well, now you can. This program will allow me to assess your habits, activities, and family structure. From there, I'll recommend dog breeds and even provide local shelters that have those breeds of dogs! This will allow you to better select a breed of dog that fits your lifestyle.
Rowdy to Respectful Puppy Program
This is Bark 4 Joy's signature program for puppies between 8 weeks and 8 months old. It provides all necessary equipment for your puppy, multiple private sessions, a one day intensive training, and a follow-up after the program ends. The goal of this program is to prevent any bad habits or behaviors from developing. Owners often overlook boundaries that should be set into action when the pup is very young. Throughout this program, I will assist in creating an easy transition for your new puppy, establishing rules, and allowing you to enjoy your puppy while they are still young.
When a puppy first comes home, we are often so consumed in puppy snuggles and accidents that socialization is overlooked. Even if it isn't overlooked, it is often done incorrectly. Improper socialization during the critical socialization period will result in a lifetime of issues. Don't let this happen! Instead, sign up for this program where I come and take your dog on a number of outings to help properly socialize your puppy!
Puppy Day Intensive
If you and your puppy are having issues adjusting and creating a schedule, this one day program will help you develop a plan to work and train with your puppy. I will come to your house for 5 hours and walk you through potty training, basic manners, and basic training. This program is for puppies, ideally between 8 weeks and 16 weeks old; however, this program can be tailored towards older dogs, too.
Courteous Canine Program (In-Person or Virtual)
The Courteous Canine Program is for all dogs above 8 months old. This program can be either 3 sessions or 5 sessions long depending on your training goals. Often, we will focus on minor behavioral issues, basic manners, and public skills. I create a personalized training plan to ensure we can help mold your "ideal dog". In-home private sessions, as well as Zoom sessions, are available for this package. Zoom is wonderful if you are out of my in-person service areas, and anyone from anywhere in the country can participate!
Service Dog Program
To become a Bark 4 Joy Service Dog candidate, you must complete the questionnaire and be accepted into the program. Your dog must be under 2 years old and pass a temperament test during the evaluation. Once accepted into the program, you'll undergo a rigorous 3 month program to accomplish basic obedience, public access, and task training. If you're interested in just segments of the Bark 4 Joy Service Dog Program (i.e., just task training), contact me for more information!
Therapy Dog Program
Therapy Dogs are specially trained and certified with a handler to visit schools, hospitals, and retirement homes. Often, your dog will be required to pass a Canine Good Citizen test. I help you train and earn the CGC, as well as introduce vital skills that assist with taking a dog into public spaces. I also set up a visit in town to get real-life practice.
Daytime Dog Program
Not everyone has the time and ability to participate in a long training program. Therefore, Daytime Dog was created. In this program, I go to your home or take your dog and complete training. You are not required to be present during these sessions. After every session, you receive notes and a report card for your dog. While this program is slightly more pricey, it allows your dog to undergo training without the need of participating.
Sit & Train Program
Normally referred to as Board & Train, this program is different as it is completed in your home. If you are leaving for vacation, you often want an in-home dog sitter. Instead of utilizing unknown websites and Facebook groups, you can choose to have a professional, insured dog trainer house and dog sit while you're away. Before you leave for vacation, a training plan will be made. Every day, a report card will be completed to update you on your dog's progress. This program has HUGE results, as behavioral issues are addressed where they occur. When you return, a complimentary session is included to transfer and discuss knew behaviors!
Board & Train Program
Puppies are adorable and cute. But they also have a lot of accidents, don't sleep through the night, aren't pre-trained, and need a TON of socialization. If you aren't ready to take on all of that responsibility, perhaps you can send your puppy to school first! In the board and train program, your puppy will learn a variety of behaviors and commands, be potty trained, crate trained, and sleep trained, and receive all necessary socialization to be a sound and independent pup!
